iPhone 15 Users Complain About Overheating Issues as Apple prepares fix 2023

Apple's latest smartphone has garnered complaints from users due to overheating, prompting the company to develop an update to resolve the issue. On September 22, the company introduced the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but consumers quickly noticed that these devices were operating at higher temperatures than anticipated. Apple stated on Saturday that it has identified a bug in the iOS 17 software, which is contributing to the perceived heat, but assured users that it poses no safety or injury risks nor adversely affects the long-term performance of the phone.

In addition to the software bug, Apple explained that iPhones tend to run warmer in the days following device setup or restoration due to increased background activity associated with data downloads, software updates, and app usage. Extended periods of gaming, video watching, or utilizing wireless charging features on a new iPhone can also cause it to run hotter than normal.

Apple attributes another issue to recent updates of third-party apps, which are overloading the system. Among these apps are Meta's Instagram and the ride-sharing app Uber. Apple is actively collaborating with these app developers to address the problem and implement necessary fixes. Instagram has already issued an update to resolve the overheating issue in its app.

Contrary to speculation, Apple clarified that the overheating problem is unrelated to the iPhone 15's titanium frame. In fact, the company indicates that the titanium frame is more effective at dissipating heat while the phone is in operation compared to older stainless-steel iPhones.

Although Apple has not disclosed a specific release date for the software update targeting the bug in iOS 17, the company has assured users that implementing the fix will not impact the performance of the new iPhone.
